WINTERREISE | SOULFUL MEDITATION ON EXISTENCE

In the afternoon, we enter Schubert’s haunting Winterreise. In a letter to his friend Franz Schober, Schubert wrote, “whenever I tried to sing of love, it turned to pain. And again, when I would sing of pain, it turned to love.” This profound tension lies at the heart of Winterreise, an epic, extraordinarily beautiful journey of yearning, loss, delusion, and self-reflection.
